NOTE: This episode was shot with a hand held Flip camera. We apologize for the low video quality but hope you still enjoy. Celebrity Wine Review travels the world to bring you fresh, original videos. We share with you our first hand experience discovering the wonderful world of wine. Bodegas Burgos Porta is in such a remote area of Priorat that our crew had to leave all the camera gear on the bus and hike uphill for several miles to get to the bodega. Burgos Porta is an amazing winery with a highly regarded wine, and we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to share this experience with you. IMG_5994 The central part of the Comarca, "Priorat històric," produces the famous and prestigious wine of the “Denominación de Origen” Calificada Priorat. Wines of the Priorat share the wealth of the native varieties (Garnatxes and Carinyena) with the new imported varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah). The special climatic characteristics and the surroundings limit the wine production of this zone, making it rare and unique. IMG_6152 (1)IMG_6135IMG_6136 Bodegas Burgos Porta, a small family winery, produces only several hundred cases each harvest. All wines are supervised by Toni Coca, one of Spain’s top consulting winemakers. The wine in the episode, Mas Sinen, is composed of a blend of Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small percentage of Carinyena and Syrah with traditional elaboration and 14 months maturation in new French oak barrels. The first vintage was 2003 with a total production of 2,000 bottles. The oak ageing relaxes the young wine and rounds out its aggressiveness of youth, gaining complexity. IMG_6141IMG_6184
