Street Reviews Logrono Harvest Festival Part 8/8 “Flamenco”
Do you like this story?
Logrono's Fiesta de San Mateo, or harvest festival was one of the best wine experiences I can ever remember having. It was an all out party from sun up until long after sundown for an entire week. For those of you in the US, think of the 4th of July for 7 days in a row, and yes, they even have fireworks every night! In fact the best firework companies from all over Europe show up every year to light up the night sky as festival goers kick off their evening. I don't think I've ever had a week packed with more food, wine, siestas, new friends and live music than I did here. The only thing I missed out on was actually getting a chance to stomp on some grapes. Unfortunately no one got a chance to because the actual harvest in Rioja was pushed back to the week after the festival. I headed back to Andalucia completely exhausted, but with a smile on my face, ready for my next wine adventure. It seems as though there is always a fiesta happening somewhere in Spain. If you want to experience a serious wine festival that you will never forget, check out Logrono's San Mateo harvest festival. Trust me you will not regret it. Once again I  would like to thank Sandy from La Flecha Amarilla for making my trip to Logrono an unforgettable experience.
